February 21 update now available! - UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED
Version 4.8 of Bloodstained Hands is now available to download!
I apologize for the delay in the launch of this update, there were some errors that came up in the testing and debugging process that delayed the release. But it is now available, and ready to download. For a detailed list of changes, please see the bug-fix log.
This update does require some additional installation instructions, however, as there have been some changes to how certain game mechanics work. Most notably, shields now function differently, and do not require the use of a skill to block physical damage. As a result, the "Shield" skills that accompany each different shield will no longer function properly, and will need to be removed. There is a simple way to do this, however. Simply follow the instructions below.
If you are downloading this game for the first time, or starting a new save file, simply download and extract the game! There's nothing new you need to do.
If, however, you are updating the game with the intention of moving your save files over, please be sure to follow these steps.
- Load your current save file.
- Remove all shields from your shield-bearing classes.
- Save your game.
- Update the game, following the same steps as usual (move save files into a separate folder, download the new version, and move the save files into the new game folder).
- Load your save files in the updated game and re-equip your characters as you see fit.
If this was done correctly, your shield-bearing characters should no longer have the "Shield" skills in their skill list, but will still block periodically when hit with a physical attack if they have a shield equipped. If this did not work, then don't worry too much. If the skills still remain, they will not harm your game, they simply won't function. Furthermore, starting a new game or creating a new game plus file will remove these skills and prevent them from being added.
Please feel free to comment below if you have any difficulties or questions, or if any unforeseen bugs appear that otherwise affect your game.
Thank you for your patience and support, and happy playing!

Thank you for the work put in the game. I have a difficulty , I am now learning to use shroud for the first time and I cant advance at all . The game shows me the same fight scene , I even used the skill 100 times and it did nothing. Sorry if I bothered you. Have a nice day!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can help you with that. Just a few questions to help me figure out the problem:
First, what level is your Shroud spell?
Second, what level is the character that is using Shroud?
I'll try to respond as quickly as possible.
My shroud is at level 0 and my character is at level 21.
Ah, I understand. I'll try to describe how to get through that without giving any spoilers. The point of the game that you're currently at requires you to escape that battle. You aren't trying to win the battle or level up your spell, it will level up on its own after that particular battle. The idea is to use Shroud to allow your character to survive the battle long enough to escape.
I'll walk you through it if you don't know how to escape battles. Note that battle settings are changed for this mission, so if you had different settings you'll want to reset them after.
At the start of the battle, you'll want to use Shroud. Once Shroud is applied, you will then want to hold the button that allows you to escape combat while your character doesn't have an action ready. If you have everything set to the default settings, the escape button is the "Q" key on your keyboard. If you have an action ready, simply hold down that key and cancel your action.
Once you've escaped the battle your spell will level up.
On another note, if you happen to learn Cauterize during this mission, you'll want to follow essentially the same steps, replacing Shroud with Cauterize to deal with the poison.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more difficulties. Thank you for playing.
Thank you very much for the advice . I hope you have a wonderful day!
